If brass bands had their own Olympics, The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain would be it! The pieces selected for competitive play are specifically chosen for their demanding dexterity, accuracy and coordination throughout the entire work, each designed to highlight a band’s proficiency and excellence.

Of the five set test pieces chosen by Kapitol Promotions for The National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain 2020 Bruce Broughton’s Heroes, originally premiered by Black Dyke Band at the BrassPass Band of the Year Contest 2019, was selected as the top piece in the Championship Section. A high honor, indeed, and a piece of the highest challenge for the competing bands.

Barring cancellation due to Covid-19, the Championship contenders will be performing their final pieces at Royal Albert Hall in London, England.
