A new version of Bruce Broughton's Silverado for solo violin and piano will be premiered Thursday, January 21, at the Laguna Beach Music Festival, performed by violinist Maria Bachmann. This new arrangement was written by the composer especially for Ms. Bachmann at the request of the festival's artistic director, composer Paul Chihara. The program, entitled "From Vienna and Paris to Hollywood" will additionally feature works by Korngold, Corigliano, Reich, Glass and Ravel.

Violinist Maria Bachmann has won first prizes at the Fritz Kreisler Competition in Vienna and the Concert Artists Guild Competition in New York. Philip Glass composed his first Sonata for Violin and Piano (2008) especially for her.
