BRUCE BROUGHTON RE-ELECTED FOR ASCAP BOARD OF DIRECTORS

ASCAPNew York, NY, March 25, 2005 – The results of the biennial election for the Board of Directors of the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) were announced today by ASCAP President and Chairman of the Board Marilyn Bergman. Bruce Broughton, along with eleven other writer and twelve publisher members, has been re-elected to serve on the Board for a two-year term commencing April 1, 2005. This is the first time in over 30 years that all incumbent candidates were re-elected.

Commenting on the results Ms. Bergman said: "ASCAP is the only U.S. Performing Rights Society Organization where the membership elects their Board of Directors. And in this election, for the first time since 1973, all incumbent candidates were re-elected. I'm very gratified to have the opportunity to work with such knowledgeable and experienced Board to meet the complex needs of our rapidly growing membership."

About ASCAP:
Established in 1914, ASCAP is the first and leading Performing Rights Organization in the U.S., representing the world's largest repertory which totals over 8 million copyrighted musical works of every style and genre from more than 200,000 composer, lyricist and music publisher members. Additionally, ASCAP represents the works in the repertories of 70 affiliated foreign performing rights organizations created by many thousand affiliated international members. ASCAP is committed to protecting the rights of its members by licensing and collecting royalties for the public performances of their copyrighted works, and then distributing these fees the Society's members based on performances. Unlike the other American Performing Rights Organizations, ASCAP's Board of Directors is made up solely of writers and publishers, elected by the membership every two years.
